die kreuzerhöhung ist ein triptychon-tafelbild , viele darstellen rippling-muscled männer, die jesus am kreuz heben . dieses gemälde zeigt deutlich den einfluss von michelangelo , Caravaggio , und tintoretto , alle seine gemälde haben rubens stark beeinflusst . rubens vervollständigte das gemälde, nachdem er aus italien nach flandern zurückgekehrt war , nach dem tod seiner mutter in 1608 . Dieses bild , zusammen mit dem abstieg des kreuzes , wurde von napoleon aus belgien genommen , aber sie wurden später am ende des zurückgegeben 19th jahrhundert . sie befinden sich beide jetzt in der kathedrale unserer lieben frau in antwerpen .
